gourmet trip to Morbegno
The Golden October is the best time for an eventful and enjoyable trip to Lake Como. Stable weather with warm sunshine, a beautiful nature in all shades and far less traffic and crowds than in August. Mushrooms and chestnuts determine the seasonal offerings in the grocery stores and delicatessens. And the menus of restaurants are now aromatic pasta dishes with the coveted fungi porcini, as the mushrooms are called in Italy.
for a gourmet tour, we recommend the trip to Morbegno in Valtellina, easily accessible by car via the road 38 of Colico on the northern tip of Lake Como, Sondrio, including the railway line runs from Colico on Morbegno after Sondrio. The outskirts of the city looks a little inviting at first glance, but the centro storico, the old town, has it all. Seemingly unaffected by either upgrading to see the streets and alleys in morbid charm. A must for every gourmet is the business of brothers Ciapponi third on Piazza Novembre - just after Ciapponi ask the name known in every Morbegno! On several floors, you can find regional products of high quality as cheeses, dried sausages, honey, vinegar, wines and much more selected. The loading facility itself is a treat for the eye!
The Valtellina itself is one of the less acclaimed wine regions in Italy, but for wine lovers try joyful always worth a try. A good overview of the wines of the valley you can get at the event "in Morbegno Cantina": On weekends, between 1 and 17. October open the local Winzer your wine cellar, a tasting of typical dishes and the Valtellina cuisine. It's best to log on to the Ufficio Turistico in Morbegno (Piazza Bossi, Tel +39 0342 601 140) to one of the informative wine tours!
